Having a hard time losing weight?

I’m sure at some point you’ve wondered if it was due to a SLOW METABOLISM.

Am I right?

Have you been following a healthy diet and getting consistent exercise but getting zero results?

Don’t worry

We can fix this by boosting your Metabolism with a few simple changes.

How does metabolism work?

The first step to changing your metabolism is understanding how it works. Your metabolism isn’t a switch you can turn on or adjust whenever you want or by making a simple lifestyle change. Simply put your metabolism is a complex system inside your body that turns food into energy.

It’s as basic as this, people that have “fast” metabolisms burn more calories at rest and throughout the day where as those with a “slow” metabolism burn fewer calories at rest and during the day.

There are so many different factors that your metabolism.

Age, gender and family history can influence your metabolism, but these are things you can’t change. The good news is there are things you can change to boost your metabolism and reach your goals!

Here are 4 strategies to maximize your metabolism:

1. Gain Muscle With Strength Training

Did you know that weight loss causes your metabolism to slow down? Many times thats because you’re losing some fat and also valuable muscle in the process.

If you’re looking to “lose weight” your goal should always be to gain muscle! Do that and you will slim down without question. By improving your body composition, you can improve your metabolism because muscle is more metabolically active than fat. This means you will burn more calories each day, even at rest.

Are you looking to lose weight? Start lifting weights today, at least 2-3 times per week to increase your lean muscle tissue.

Then be sure to add a quality source of protein at meal time to help build and maintain strong muscles.

Also, avoid yo-yo dieting and quick weight loss programs that cause your weight to bounce up and down. The damage it does to your metabolism isn’t worth it.

2. Don’t Starve Yourself

You’ve heard it before, If you want to weigh less, you’ve got to eat less.

Right? Actually if you take in too few calories, it can cause your body to lose muscle mass, which will decrease metabolism. Plus, when you cut back to much on calories, your body slows the rate at which it burns calories to conserve the fuel it’s got. Many people wrongfully believe that eating as few calories as possible is the best solution. So they opt for fad diets to achieve  quick, noticeable weight loss.

This lead to numerous issues. If the body is getting less food overall, it can actually have the opposite effect on weight loss. Instead of cutting calories like crazy, use the strategy of eating a well balanced Whole Foods diet. Add in the right kind of exercise and you’ll slim down quickly and safely without screwing up your metabolism.

3. Add Interval Training To Your Workouts

If you’re a steady state cardio person try adding bursts of speed into your routine to amp up your metabolism even more. Whether you walk, run, cycle, or swim, try increasing intensity for one minute, then maintain your typical slower speed for two minutes. Repeat throughout the workout.

Studies have shown that workouts like the TFW Hurricane that alternate sprints with low-intensity cardio increase metabolism and MELT FAT.

4. Get Your Rest

Sleep is the most important factor in recovery. You need to get your rest to get results, I’m talking between 7-10 hours minimum.  Sleep is paramount for muscle recovery, hormonal balance and most of all mental health.  So put down your iPad, get off of Facebook, shut off the TV and get your rest.

Your metabolism depends on many factors, try these are four lifestyle changes to speed it up and burn more calories—even at rest.
