About me…

I am a 42 year old divorced mother of three. My life has always revolved around my family. As much as I wanted to exercise and be in shape finding the time and the motivation was always difficult for me. I made getting in shape my New Year’s resolution every year for as long as I can remember, and by the end of February I was back to not watching what I eat and the exercising would dwindle down to nothing. I fell for many of the lose weight get in shape quick gimmicks, then after a week or two I would realize that living with 3 kids and a dog made it impossible to even get through a 10 minute workout at home without interruption. I have gone the gym route a few times but being as self-conscious as I was and having social anxiety on top of that I would spend a half hour on treadmill and another half hour on the elliptical and that was about it. I would glance over to the weight area but was always too intimidated to make my way over there, I had no clue what to do with the weights anyway. I have also battled lower back problems since I was 15. Because of this I was always limited to what I could do. Just walking or running a short distance would cause me severe pain. Between my back problems and not being happy with my body I constantly battled depression. Until I found TFW…..

How I found TFW…

My son was TFW Mahopac’s first youth client. He joined the program to get in shape for lacrosse season. In only a couple of months of training with John and Bill he lost weight, became toned and most importantly he became confident. I also saw what TFW was doing for a couple of my friends who trained with my son. When I would pick him up they would ask me when I was going to give it a try. I was interested but at that point my back pain was bad and there was only the 6PM class which didn’t fit into my schedule. My son stopped TFW when lacrosse season started but since my daughter took MMA in the same building I still got to see TFW in action when I was there with her. In May 2013, TFW Mahopac added class times creating a 4 PM class. My back was feeling better and this was a time I could do. I was there at that hour anyway with my daughter so why just sit and wait for her when I could be doing something for myself. I contacted my friend Donna who trained at TFW just to ask more questions about the program. I then contacted John and Bill to ask them some questions, discuss my back issues, and set up a trial class. May 6, 2013 I went in for my first TFW class. As difficult as it was, I immediately fell in love with TFW. I knew after just one class that this program is what I needed. May 8, 2013 I was officially a TFW Mahopac client.

What TFW has done for me…

When I joined TFW Mahopac I immediately changed my mind set. This was something I had to do for me and for my kids….that was my “Why”. TFW became part of my schedule 5 days per week. There were no excuses good enough for me not to be there. It only took a few weeks for me to start noticing a change in my body. I was losing weight and becoming toned…something I have never been. I was quickly getting stronger…mentally and physically. I was also eating healthier and cleaner. John and Bill don’t stop coaching when my hour is up. I get texts, phone calls and emails. They give me nutritional tips and workouts to do at home if I can’t make it to class. When my back is bothering me they tell me what to modify. When it is so bad that I can’t train, they have me come in and stretch. They are always so supportive…not only them but everyone I train with. They are my second family….my familia. In the 9 months I have been training at TFW I have lost 13 pound and dropped 2 sizes. I feel great in everything I put on. There is no more morning stress over getting dressed and feeling fat in everything I put on. No more muffin top and cramming my body into Spanx to control all the jiggle. I have become confident and energetic. I went from barely being able to lift my body out of bed in the morning to being able to deadlift 200 pounds. This year, for the first time, my New Year’s resolution was not to lose weight and get in shape. I had already accomplished that. This year my resolution was to become stronger, and I am every day.

Training For Warriors has definitely affected my life more than I thought it would. First of all, you couldn’t ask for two better trainers than John and Billy. Besides the fact that they are two great people to know, their dedication to their clients and their business is something to be admired and respected. They’re always there for you, pushing and seeing you through every workout no matter how much you moan or complain. They don’t give up on you, and because of that, you walk out of the gym feeling one hundred times better about yourself.
I’ve done the gym and trainer thing before but when I did it in the past it was always more of a chore. I did it because I felt it was something I was supposed to do to stay healthy not because I wanted to be there. And even after all of that work, I didn’t get the results that I wanted. But now going to the gym is something that I look forward to everyday. I mean, I literally count down the hours until I can leave work and go to the gym, which is something I NEVER thought I would say.

I now see muscle definition all over my body and I have so much more fun shopping for clothes! This is definitely a full body workout. A full mind, body and soul workout. Seeing the effects this program has on my body and the bodies of my fellow warriors is very encouraging, not to mention everybody’s positive attitude that is inevitable in a TFW environment. Going to the gym is no longer a chore when you’re surrounded by supportive friends who you can laugh with and that help you get through that last set. It’s amazing how much more you can accomplish with a supportive team behind you.  I look forward to continuing my life enriching workouts one Kettlebell swing at a time.
Thanks Guys!! =)

Maxed Out Fitness is definitely the way to go if you are trying to your improve athletic success. My time with Billy and the Maxed Out crew has been awesome. I am constantly motivated to push myself when I am training there. The workouts that I have struggled through with Billy have gotten me in the necessary shape to power through my workouts at Ohio State. Not only do I feel stronger and faster but I have gained a lot of knowledge along the lines of nutrition and injury prevention. They are always open to tweak the training toward specific goals you want to reach. I look forward to coming home during breaks and getting back in the gym with the guys at Maxed Out Fitness. Looking back to where I was when I started with Billy and where I am now I notice a massive improvement in myself as an athlete.

I never thought I would enjoy and look so forward to coming to a “boot camp” class. But, John and Bill make this class fun!. Having lost 15 lbs., I would have put that weight right back on if it wasn’t for their awesome half-hour of training! To think I got such results from two days a week, is unbelievable. That’s all you need….in that amount of time, we use strength training and cardio. I love it and would recommend it to everyone, no matter what their age!

In the half hour we spend working out, I feel I’m using every part of my body. I feel exhilarated and rejuvenated, especially the next day. I’ve noticed I have a more toned body and feel much more energetic.

Like many people, I’ve tried different exercise classes, a personal trainer, Zumba… Nothing and I mean nothing has been as successful as working out with John & Bill of Maxed-Out. I have dropped an entire pants size, have so much energy and am motivated to making exercise part of my life. Their workouts are not only highly effective but as a busy working Mom, I can get great results in only 30 minutes a class. John and Bill make these very intensive workouts fun and they are truly inspiring.
